Beatrice Mayfield specialises in hand embroidered textiles, using a range of traditional techniques. Her bespoke art works and wearable art pieces, incorporate intricate areas of stitch, embellishment and print to provide pattern and texture. Her abstract designs are inspired by the juxtaposition of architecture and nature thriving side by side.

Nature of the City 4 :
Hand embroidered & embellished textile collage, 2023, 15cm (w) x 25cm (h),Cotton organdie, beads, threads, fabric paint
Series of textile collage wall pieces exploring the relationship between the urban & natural landscape – the Brunswick Centre & Hampstead Heath in particular. Using images taken over a period of a month of both these locations as a starting point, the wall pieces will explore how these seemingly opposing environments overlap. The resulting collages create a kind of hybrid, utopian landscape that is prevalent in many cities and those living there will seek out for themselves to find a balance in their daily lives.
